Bicycle Tours (not in the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz)

Since 1988 the cultural landscape of the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz has been part of the Biosphere Reserve of the Middle Elbe River, which is among the oldest German biological reserves approved by the UNESCO. For hikers and cyclists there are marked trails throughout the whole area. In the proximity of Wörlitz the Wildebergweg (5.6 miles) and the Förster-Wöpke-Weg (10.6 miles) will take you through the fascinating Elbe floodplain. The Tour "Fürst Franz", leading through the whole Garden Kingdom, is a trip of 42 miles that can also be experienced in smaller sections. It is thus quite pleasant to hike or cycle to the Sieglitz Park (about 3.7 miles) or the Luisium (6.8 miles). Here and there the Fürst Franz Tour, the long-distance cycle path R I, and the cycle path along the Elbe river are identical. Please note that some trails are not accessible during high water. An alternative solution to the bus connection might be the Dessau-Wörlitz Railway, which also makes stops in the Biosphere Reserve (nature trail and centre of information) and in Oranienbaum. Bicycles can be carried on the train. However, you need to consider the schedule (seasonal service).
