Wörlitz invites you Sights

The Wörlitz Park, which has been kept in its original state for a great part up to this day, crowns the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom, wich was added to the World Heritage List of the UNESCO in November 2000. Therein the sight is described as "an outstanding example of the application of the philosophical principles of the Age of the Enlightenment to the design of a landscape that integrates art, education, and economy in a harmonious whole."
(source: www.whc.unesco.org as of June 12th, 2006).

According to one of Prince Franz's guiding principles-"In my view, being helpful and creating good things is our fundamental duty and the most pleasant activity of our lives."-improvements were made in almost all spheres of life with a broad programme of reforms, some of which still take effect up to this day.

Through the beautification of the area the whole little land of Anhalt-Dessau received a park-like appearance, the several parks at a distance of a few kilometres to each other ("a horse ride of half an hour") creating the greatest pleasure. Apart from the Wörlitz Park the Parks and Palace Gardens of Mosigkau, Großkühnau, Georgium, Luisium, and Oranienbaum, as well as the Siglitz Park (a former forest and wild park) belong to the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom.

On the following pages we would like to present you the several sights you can find in Wörlitz.
