»Wörlitz is neither a regional nor a German attraction; it is a European, a world issue...«
wrote the art historian Wilhelm van Kempen in 1925
You are here:
Wörlitz, a charming little German town in Saxony-Anhalt, has a history of more than 1.000 years. It became famous in the second half of the eighteenth century when one of the earliest and certainly most beautiful landscape parks of Continental Europe was formed here in the direct vicinity of the town. From the very beginning the garden was open to the public, serving not only as a place for recreation but primarily for education.
The Wörlitz Park is part of the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in November 2000. The whole Garden Kingdom is situated in the midst of the Biosphere Reserve of the Middle Elbe River in the close vicinity of the city of Lutherstadt Wittenberg and the Bauhaus city Dessau. Therefore, Wörlitz not only offers various possibilities for tourists and people on educational journeys, but also is a preferred location for meetings and conferences.
We invite you to get to know the amenities of the park town of Wörlitz and its vicinity with us.
